As the global marketplace shifts toward complex digital interfaces and algorithmic decision-making, this conference evaluates the efficacy of current legal frameworks against emerging challenges like dark patterns and data privacy breaches. Under the visionary aegis of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, this initiative serves as a premier forum to bridge the gap between academic research and legislative policy-making.

 

  • Objective: Empowering the "New-Age Consumer" through informed discourse on enforcement and global best practices.

     

  • Core Themes: Modernizing consumer law, AI and algorithmic transparency, e-commerce, and the "Right to Repair".

     

  • Participation: Open to academicians, practitioners, students, and policymakers.

     

  • Publication: Accepted papers will be published in a booklet with an ISBN.

     

  • Mode: Hybrid (Online & Offline).

Advertisement Analysis Competition

Deadline - 15th October, 2025
Results - 17th October, 2025

The Advertisement Analysis Competition invites students from Batch of 2030 to legally examine misleading advertisements and uncover their impact on consumers and markets. Participants will select a real or illustrative ad, analyze how it deceives the public, and present a detailed legal evaluation. The competition requires application of various laws, including but not limited to, the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, Advertising Standards Council of India, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, or Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India. Through this competition, the Centre aims to build awareness of unfair trade practices while fostering critical legal thinking and ethical responsibility.

The Centre for Competition and Consumer Protection Law is delighted to announce the results of the Fresher's Advertisement Competition - Unmasking Misleading Claims. Upon thorough review and evaluation, the following submissions have emerged as the top 3 entries:
1. The Influencer Market and Consumer's Deception: The Mama Earth by Mansi. 
2. Deceptive Luminescence: Indian Legal Lens on Vi-Rex Violet Ray by Narayani Khanna.
3. The Maggi Legal Spinach Advertisement: Unpacking Health Claims, Consumer Misleading, and Implications by Kanya Mishra

Two-Day Seminar on 75 years of Supreme Court of India

26th to 27th April, 2025

RGNUL organised the Two-Day Seminar on 75 Years of the Supreme Court of India on the occasion of the Supreme Court of India’s 75th anniversary and World IP Day on April 26-27, 2025. The Seminar aimed to reflect on the transformative journey of the Supreme Court of India in shaping the legal, political, and social fabric of the country. The event provided a platform for scholars, academicians, and practitioners to deliberate on the future trajectory of the Supreme Court in maintaining its role as the guardian of constitutional values and a catalyst for progressive change.

Capacity Building Programme

1st to 3rd March, 2025

The Three-Day Capacity-Building Program for the members of the District Consumer Commissions of Punjab, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, held from 1st to 3rd March 2025, successfully concluded. Designed to strengthen participants' administrative and judicial competencies, the program fostered academic discussions on emerging issues in consumer law.​

Distinguished legal luminaries, including Hon’ble Justice A.P. Sahi, President of the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission; Hon’ble Mrs. Justice Daya Chaudhary, President of the Punjab State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission; and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Raj Shekhar Attri, President of the Chandigarh State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, graced the event.​

Sponsored by the Department of Consumer Affairs under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Government of India, the program featured 10 interactive sessions covering diverse aspects of consumer protection laws, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging learning experience for all participants.
